Project Reflection
Of the various projects undergone this semester, project four presented the biggest challenge. While I had some prior knowledge with audacity, I wasn’t sure if I would my skills were sufficient enough to record and edit a 45 minute podcast. In addition to the lack of skill, developing a central focus with people having similar interest was also a challenge. Fortunately, as with most obstacles, my group was able to successfully record a podcast and create a webpage.
My group decided to conduct research on the entertainment industry. We focused on the level of effect it has on people’s actions. From that, Rufina, Yuchen, and I devised our individual questions. During my segment I investigated the entertainment industry’s use of stereotypes and its implementation to earn a sizeable profit. I explain how with the use of movies, music videos, and other captivating visuals influence fans into developing a belief of living the dream. While there are numerous negative connotations involved in the overall schemes in the entertainment industry, I note there are people who use entertainment for positive promotion.
After my segment, Rufina and Yuchen follow by addressing their issues involved within the entertainment business. The recording process was strangely awkward in the beginning. I feel we were trying too hard to be formal. We were trying to articulate too technically. As a result, we spent several takes just on the intro and being comfortable. Once we all were immune to hearing our recorded voices, we could finally begin. I feel there we were still slightly nervous and were being too professional for a majority of my segment. Rufina’s portion was probably the best out of all three. She went after me and at that point we were all comfortable. The conversations were more natural. We would make errors, but since we were so relaxed, the mistakes were unnoticeable after listening to the final product. All in all, project four was probably my favorite. I was able to share my ideas and similar interests with new people.
